High School / Intermediate Subjects Requirement
Students who have studied three subjects including compulsory Mathematics in their High School (except for Intermediate Pre-medical students – see requirements below) can apply for the CS degree program.
 
Eligibility Criteria for Taking The Habib University Entrance Examination
Cambridge International Examinations (O and A Levels):

O level:
  • Pakistan Based Examinations: Eight subjects, including Compulsory English, Mathematics, Urdu, Islamiyat, Pakistan Studies and three elective, with average C grade.
  • Overseas Based Examinations: Five subjects, including English, Mathematics and three electives, with average C grade.
    Note: Additional Mathematics will not be counted as an elective.
A level:
  • Three subjects, including Compulsory Mathematics and two electives, with average C grade.
    Note: Further Mathematics and General Paper will not be counted as electives.
Matriculation/Intermediate Examinations:
  • SSC/Matriculation in Science with at least 65% marks
  • HSSC/Intermediate in Pre-Engineering/General Science with compulsory Mathematics, scoring overall marks of 65% or more
  • HSSC/Intermediate Pre-medical students, who do not have compulsory Mathematics, will have to take pre-preparatory Mathematics classes in June, and will be required to appear for the College Level Mathematics section of the Entrance Examination
International Baccalaureate (IBD):
  • Overall, a minimum of 28 points out of 45 in any of the three principal subjects including compulsory Mathematics. Three subjects must be at HL
  • English should be taken as compulsory subject
  • Student is required to complete CAS and TOK
  • All Pakistani nationals appearing for examinations from Pakistan shall have to pass Urdu, Islamiyat and Pakistan Studies either with Middle Year Program/O level/SSC or with IBD
High School Diploma:
  • Overall score of 65% or above, with any three principal subjects including compulsory Mathematics.
  • English should be taken as a compulsory subject along with minimum four principal elective subjects at grades 9-10 and 11-12
  • All Pakistani nationals appearing for examinations from Pakistan shall have to pass Urdu, Islamiyat and Pakistan studies during the four-year diploma either with O Level/SSC or HSD

SAT Based Exemption
  • You may be exempted from the English component of Habib University’s Entrance Examination for School of Science and Engineering (EE for SSE) completely if you have taken the SAT I. Scores required to qualify for exemption are mentioned below:
    • Old SAT Format (Used by January 2016 and before): 1800
    • New SAT Format (Effective from March 2016): 1200
      • Minimum score required in English:500
      • Minimum score required in Math: 500
      • Minimum score required in Essay: 5
    • For complete exemption from the English component of EE for SSE, it is essential for you to take essay in SAT I as Habib University require essay score. If you will not take essay examination in SAT I then you are required to take Habib University Essay Examination.
  • You can get exemption from the College Level Math Component of the test if you have taken SAT II Mathematics (II) and have scored 600 and above
High Grade Based Exemption
    This option is applicable only for the students of Cambridge Examination Board (CEB) and Aga Khan University Examination Board (AKU-EB). If you apply for exemption based on grades, please upload the attested copies of your O/A level or SSC/HSSC transcripts in the ‘Document upload’ section of your e-application
AKU-EB students
  • AKU-EB students can get exemption from the English Component of Entrance test if their average SSC & HSSC score is 85% or above.
  • They need to take College Level Math Component of the HU Entrance test or need to submit SAT II Math II scores for exemption
CEB students
  • CEB students can get exemption from the English Component of Entrance test if their average score in the eleven subjects of O & A level is 85% or above and no grade is lower than B. General Paper, Additional Mathematics and Further Mathematics are not included in eleven subjects and electives in O and A Levels should be the most relevant to the program applying at HU.
  • They need to take College Level Math Component of the HU Entrance test or need to submit SAT II Math II scores for exemption

Habib University’s admissions process is holistic in nature. Your application will be evaluated on the basis of the following factors:
  • Academic grades/percentage obtained in high/higher secondary schools
  • Participation in activities beyond the classroom, including co-curricular activities, community service, leadership activities, internships, etc
  • Performance in Habib University entrance examination and
  • Performance in Habib University entrance interview
